Replaced HD, won't boot to USB image

I have an Inspiron 570 and hard drive failed.  Before fail I used the Dell Support Center on the PC and created an image for recovery back to purchased state.  It said it required 6 GB of disc space and I used an 8GB USB drive.

Bought a new HD today, installed fine, but when I choose to boot to USB it says: An error occurred when attempting to read the boot configuration data.

I've tried putting the USB in the back and the front, same results.  It's not finding any bootable data.

Please let me know how I can get this image on the new hard drive.

Thank you!

I believe the Dell Support Center uses Data Safe Local version 2.0 to create its back-up files.  When you backed up the files you should have used the option to create recovery media.  Any other back-up approach will not lead to a bootable disk or USB memory stick.  If you used the option for a system image you will need to use a Windows installation DVD to restore an operating system to your computer, and install Data Safe Local 2.0 in order to restore the system image.  If you did use the option to create recovery media and still do not have a bootable USB memory stick, I'm afraid restoring the operating system manually followed by installation of Data Safe Local is the only possible approach.  Given you did not generate a bootable memory stick, it is possible there may be other problems with your back-up image and it may not work even with Windows and Data Safe Local installed.
