Replacing my CD-R/RW drive
I am looking into replacing my CD-R/RW drive in my computer and have no idea what to get.
My CD drive will no longer read or write CDs after successfully reading 40 or so in a row in 2days time. (I'm trying to fill up my iPod.) This is the first ever problem I have had with it so I am assuming I wore the thing out.
Being new at this, I researched all the troubleshooting methods posted in this forum and have tried all of them (removing the Upper and Lower filters, checking the BIOS, etc.)...all except reseating the drive. I figure if I have to get into the internals of the computer to do this I may as well replace it with a new one.
(Incidentally I can't try the DELL Diagnostics because it won't read the Resource CD.)
Can anyone suggest the best replacement CD-R/RW to get and one that will be compatible with my system before I order one?
Here is my System info:
DELL Dimensions 2400 (just over a year old)
Samsung CD-R/RW SW-2525 (installed w/ original Dell package)

Predator
2 Intern

Actually any ol`e CD/RW will work fine in your system. On-line, go here New Egg
Best Regards
God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do
and the eyesight to tell the difference.
