SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-248F problems

i have a SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-248F in my dell 4600.  it worked for about 2 years then, now it does not burn.  when i try to burn a cd-r, cd-rw  the drives busy light flashes red.  the drive is makeing a wered sound when there is a disk in it.  also the drive does not go to full speed.
 
does any one know of what it could be?

Hi Jak,

Click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 6-3, article 28 and see if this information from one of our Members helps.

Also try the Dell firmware update for the drive here:
Samsung 248F

Same CD/RW link, Section 12, article 3 for Dell`s tests.

ur link has a different problem than mine... because i can't find any CD-ROM and DVD-ROM in "My Computer" i don't see any CD drive icon. all i see is the hard drives and floopy... i went to see my two drive in device management, it had ! inside a yellow sign... it's like warning sign. i try to unistall and re-install it again.. but it got curruped by some hardware. also, i got one more problem; is my graphic card... my graphic card is NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X.... sometime it work, sometime it doesn't work... i don't know what happen to it. i can play maplestory but i can't play gunbound... when i launch gunbound game the only thing it appear is black page and a busy mouse. can you help me with these problem predator, thank you so much...

Hi need helpers,

For your optical drives, the problem may be the Upper & Lower Filters, something we have seen many times.
At the CD/RW link, Section 12, article 10. The article mentions Roxio but any third party burning program can cause this. If that does not help, try Section 20, article 3.

As for the video card, consider updating the drivers from NVidia, this tends to correct a number of issues.

thx alot prdator..... i don't know how to say... u just save my life... now all i need to do is re-install the whole computer or keep using it... i don't know it yet... one more problem is that the graphic card... i try to update it but it can't find... finally it found but still everything is jacked up... like when i'm on the website, i scroll up and down... it really slow... it's like cut, cut... even though i update it...

i had two more problems which is my graphic card and my other computer, my graphic card is not working... i install it and than after i reset my computer... it's still not working, i keep install, after i install, some game i can't play and some can... i try to update and re-install it but still, my graphic card is NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X
 
 
i had another computer that is broken long time ago, now i try to fix it, because i found the operating system disk to re-install it... for this computer. i can't go on the desktop and my CD-ROM is losted... how do i re-boot my CD-ROM at the starting window. when i start on... it keep saying that the Pri Slave Drive. ATAPI is incompatible. i keep pressing F1 when i start my computer... the only thing i can boot is CD-ROM... can u help me please.............................................................
