SAMSUNG HM321HI

I purchased my dell inpiron n4010 laptop in july 2010. Recently on doing pc checkup through dell support center hard drive is failing the test. The SMART short test and targeted read test is failing ....... I have taken utmost care my pc and never subjctd it to any jerks etc.......... Does the hdd have a life span of only  1year and three mnths??/

It is what it is.

Hard drives are known to fail.

Just buy a brand new hard drive.

There are only two types of hard drives. the drives that have failed and those that are waiting to failing.
Always keep your data backups current and buy hard drives with a good warranty.
 
I've a new hard drive fail in less than thirty days and others in less than a year
