First check if you have a SATA 150 or a SATA 300 hard drive.

Note that both SATA and SATA II cables move the same amount of data.

If both SATA 150 and 300 drive models are 7200 rpm, this will limit them to a practical maximum speed, in the 60-65 MBps range.

No drives actually use the full bandwidth of SATA I yet so any cable you get should work and give you the fastest real-world transfer speeds from your hard drive.

That's a SATA 300.   It's a good price for a 300gb SATA hard drive with a five year warranty and you're right about the cable.

You're welcome.

Maybe the User Guide for the Dell 1905FP monitor, could help you,

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/r83546/EN/index.htm

if not, then there's the "Monitors" board,

Thanks for the info and the link to the cable store.

PS - Wrong forum, but how are you with Dell 1905FP monitor brightness questions?

Here's a link to the drive I got:

I'm a novice, but I think it's 300 vs 150. I'm basing this on the spec: "SATA 3.0Gb/s". Regardless of the 300/150 - it sounds to me like the cable really makes no difference, right?

Bev,

Thanks for the advise and I've tried both. Just to provide closure to this thread, some problems with that monitor have been addressed without resolve. I'll continue to search.
