My SD Card is not being recognized on my Dell Inspiron 1545. I tried dowloading the driver, and it still isn't recognizing it. Whout could be the problem?

Hi JericaSue14,

What normally happens when you plug in your SD card? Where do you look for it? Have you tried checking disk management?

Nothing at all happens. I looked in disk management and I don't see it in there anywhere. My SD Card doesn't show up in My Computer where it usually does in other computers I've put it in.

At the risk of repeating myself, what normally happens when you plug in your SD card? Have you been able to read this card before? Can you tell me the exact make and specifications of the SD card? If it's an HCSD card, are you sure your card reader can read the HC type of SD card?

The card does absolutely nothing. It doesn't even show up as unrecognized or make a noise that it's been put it. It works in every other computer fine. To get my pictures, I've been transferring them on my Mom's computer to my USB drive. I've had the same card for almost a year. It's a SanDisk 2GB SD Card.

Hi JericaSue14,

Has the card reader in your Inspiron 1545 ever worked? In your manual, it says the card reader has a plastic blank installed to keep dust out. Are you sure you have removed it?

Yes, I removed the plastic blank. I leave it in when I'm not using it so that the reader won't get dirty. It hasn't ever worked that  I'm aware of. I bought it used from Aaron's Rental, so I don't have a manual to go by.

Here are your manuals.

You might want to bookmark the page, or even print them out. It appears to me your card reader just isn't working. I would suggest you simply buy a USB card reader. I've been very happy with any of the Sandisk card readers I've ever used.

Hi I just bought a new SD card and it does say SDHC on it, i didnt think there was a difference. How can I get the pictures off this card and onto my computer. My computer isnt recognizing it at all. Nothing pop up under the "removable storage" headline.

http://www.dell.com/us/dfh/p/inspiron-15/pd says that the Inspiron 1545 can read SDHC cards

can you leave the card in the camera and connect camera via USB cable?

No I tried that. When I put the card in my camera it says "card cannot be accessed reinsert/change card" which is wierd because prior to trying to get the pics off...I took the pics with that card in they camera.
