Thanks, but that  did not fix my problem.  The problem I am having has to do with the DVD player.  The movie plays, but is seems to be skipping.  The audio and video seems to be skipping.  I can see the picture.  Example: someone in the move could be talking and the audio is faster than the video.  Everything skips.  There is no smooth play in the DVD mode.  The CD plays fine.  Please help.  I think the problem is with my computer, but i am not an expert.  Playo

I took my laptop to an computer repair shop.  The results was the video processor was not fast enough to process the correct picture and correct speed.  Could you please tell me if I can upgrade my video processor and if so how.  Again i have a Dell Latitude CP.

Thank You,

Playo

That I do not know.  I recommend you post that question in the Latitude - Video board
where those who have the knowledge can advise you.

Excellent help on the CDRW/DVD problem with the Samsung drive! Man it was driving me crazy using Windows 2000 (I have set up my computer to operate with dual OS's). Windows XP for some reason knows to enable DMA for reading of CDROM drive. I knew it was weird because even simple transfers of files in the Windows 2000 environment created this herky jerky problem. I thought it was an IRQ problem with the mouse but it was just a Direct Memory Access problem for the secondary device. That's all been fixed thanks to your tip Skybird! Excellent forum here!

Hello!

I also have this Samsung.  Whenever I put in a DVD, no matter how I open it, or what program I use (I've tried Quicktime, WinDVD, and Real Player), the computer reads the disk for a really long time, the player program freezes, and then it does not recognize the DVD.  If I put in a DVD and view it through My Computer, you can see it.  But when you attempt to open it, the freezing problem happens again.  I have tried this with a lot of different DVDs.  To my knowledge, I am up to date and my PC seems to be running fine.  Has anyone encountered this problem?
