Thanks for replying, but I guest it's my fault for not being a bit more forwording. I already have the CD for my Scanjet scanner, but it's just that I am extremely frustrated as to know why my scsiscan.sys cannot be loaded. I went through this process several times and even found the system file in the CD - it just still refused to load it. Any reason why it won't? I sure would appreciate if you can help out on that.
Thanks for trying to help out. Let me assured you that i did log in as Local Administrator. This administrator is nothing new to me as I have gone through this Administrator many times in formal employment. However, i did finally discovered why i couldn't load the scsican.sys, and I thought I would pass this along in case others may run into similar situation, or perhaps you already know about it.
what started was during the search for new hardware the Wizard was looking for the scsican.sys in the defaulted folder - C:\WNNT\DriverCache\i386. that location shows the folder was "blank" as the eyes can see it, and therefore could not loaded. In that affect, I manually had the Wizard look for the file in my CD, which is where the scsiscan.sys file is located. after several repeating attempt to loat it - it failed. After I read your forum, i decided to check into my Explorer.exe and find out what was it the Wizard couldn't find. To my amazement I didn't realize there was a Zip drivers file sitting in my folder - uncompressed. After i uncompressed the file I finally found the scsican.sys drive file i was looking for, and extracted it. I then again ran the search for hardware Wizard again, and this time it found the scsiscan.sys file in the defaulted folder, and now my scanner is up and running.
I got to wonder if Microsoft would have don better when using the Wizard, which doesn't seem to work well with Zip files.
