Setting up a Hdd password

Hello,

Over a year ago I set up a hard disk password on both of my Optiplex GX520 desktop computers for tighter security.

Recently one of them suffered a hard disk crash that required replacing.

I want to set up a passord on the new hard drive but forgot how.

In the setup mode, under Drive0 password menu, I get a message saying

"The drive has been safely put in a FROZEN state" and I am instructed to turn off the system

and upon restart try to set the password.

Is there a key stroke that I need to make or some other step that I am forgetting?

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,   David

I found the solution to my problem this morning.

The only way I could could clear up the "hdd password frozen"  was to jumper the motherboard reset pins

for a couple of minutes (with the computer powered down).

You can use the jumper from the pwd pins temporarily then put it back.

After removing the jumper and restarting the computer I was able to go into the bios setup

security tab and set the hdd password.

Now I am able to reset, if need be, the hdd password.
