Studio 1735 CD Stuck! Plz Help!
Hello, I have a Dell Studio 1735 laptop and the cd I have in it is stuck in the cd drive. The drive is completly operational as the cd works 100% fine, the only problem is it doesn't eject. This model laptop if you don't know doesn't have a hole that you can push a paper clip in to mechanically force an ejection. I've heard that one fixe for this problem is to right click on the cd drive in my computer and eject the disk from there instead of using the touch button on the laptop. I tried this and it doesn't work. I want to to describe how its not ejecting though as its slightly different then the problem most people are having with this model:
you can hear the disc begin to eject when you press eject.
You can tell its trying to push the cd up or something similar
It then sounds like its getting stuck and after a couple repeated attemps at pushing the disc out, it gives up on ejecting the cd
It then seems like it thinks it ejected the cd and begins to return the cd back into the drive.
then it spins up the cd and loads whatever is on there (you can tell because this cd has an autorun that comes up).
This always happens 100% of the time. Essentially it "half ejects the disc" (no portion of the disc leaves the actual laptop though) and then after a couple attempts at ejection it "half loads the disc" and runs whatever's on it.
So how do I fix this? Can I order a replacement cd/dvd drive and have it swapped out? If I do this will it fix the problem, and also should I expect the same problem to just happen again? HELP!!!

Hi Ddc9999,
Yes, you can easily buy a replacement drive. Your service manual has instructions for removal and replacement of the drive. That part isn't hard. But you might want to bring your laptop to a local shop for help. With the drive in their hands, they may be able to figure out why it's not opening.

That sounds exactly like what's happening to me. I have an XPS 1530 laptop with a slot-loading CD/DVD drive. The disc is definitely trying to eject but it fails and then remounts the disc.
Please let me know if you find a solution short of taking it into the shop. That's my next step.
Thanks.

Has anyone ever answered his question? I have a Dell XPS M1530 and I have a CD stuck in the CD drive. I have tried all the things that he tried. Any help would be appreciated.

Whatever tool you choose to use, you will need to do something like this:
