This is a software error message and it is unlikely that it is related to the hard drive in anyway. If you have not already done so, you may want to post your message in one of the software Forums (Software – Windows XP, Software – Other Software) as you may be more likely to get a response to software questions in those Forums; be sure to include details such as the name of the program and any other details that may help someone understand your issue. Keep in mind that not all software that was written for Windows 95 will work correctly in Windows XP; if possible you may also want to check with the software manufacturer to see if their software is compatible with XP or if there are any updates available/needed.

There are plenty of old programs that were compiled with timing loops, that will produce divide overflows with CPUs that are too fast.
See if there's an update to the program you're trying to run.
