Two CD writers disable video card
I have a 8700 SE that came with the stock CD/DVD-writer, BD-ROM reader. I purchased a Pioneer BDR-209DBK CD/DVD/BD writer. When I turned the system on, the NVIDIA Geforce GTX-660 was disabled. I ended up removing the CD/DVD writer and the system is back to normal.
There is a conflict between having the two CD/DVD/BD drives in the system. Any idea why or whether there is a work around?

Hi dperry112,
What do you mean disabled? What does device manager show?
The only thing that comes to mind is some sort of HDCP problem.

Gave an error message of 43, showed the card is device manager as disabled.

Did you try reinstalling the video driver? Did you try removing the OEM drive?

I did not reinstall the video driver. I first unplugged the new drive SATA and power cable and confirmed that the video card was enabled. I then removed the OEM CD-ROM and hooked up the new drive and confirmed that the video card was enabled. So now everything works but I guess I don't understand why this happened.
