WHat machine is this on? When you say "loading" do you mean whilst ttrying to install XP Pro? Have you changed the machine's hardware recently or swapped or added new disks? Does this occur during boot on a previously working machine?

The statement that your harddrive is bad is really premature.
Can you provide more information about your system?
What system model do you have?
Also, when you say it's blue-screening on loading XP, do you mean it's blue-screening when you're installing Windows, or when it's booting to Windows?
If you want to test the harddrive and it's a fairly modern system (basically after the GX1 and using an up-to-date bios),
this link says that pressing control-alt-d during post will initiate a diagnostics on the harddrive.
