What Sata- Controller have i? dimension 8300
i can't install a driver for my Sata- Controller. i only find a chip
from Intel with some Satafunktion (Intel ICH5 82801EB) but isn't a full
Satacontroller (ICH5R 82801ER will be a full sata- and raidcontroller).
a chip from Promise can't i find (where should i look for it? under the
mainboard?). i installed driver from intel (nothing, but the utility
from intel told me, that i have sata and pata enabled), Promise
(Errorcode 10) and Dell (Errorcode 10) and no driver will working.
The HDD is from Seagate and is a sata- hdd, is in the moment working as
a ata- 100, but makes from time to time controllermistakes and
sometimes, Windows remove the hdd just for fun. the hdd is with a small
blue sata- cable connected to the mainboard.
I installed an old 6 GB IDE- HDD and a driver for Sata was installed,
but i can't remember the name of the Satacontroller, it was just a
number. i removed the old hdd and Windows had many troubles, i
installed the system new, but now, a driver for sata is missing :(
I haven't ordered a diskdrive, because, i have some old diskdrive here.
i hope, it wasn't a mistake and someone think, i didn't want a
sata-controller.
i hope, someone understand my problem, my english isn't so good :(

its just part of the chipset. whats wrong with your sata drive? you dont have onboard raid but a sata drive will work fine.

No, isn't working fine :(
here is a screen with Problem http://home.arcor.de/t-schuermann/3dc/error.PNG
Windows don't find a sata- controller and so it does mistakes, when many data will be transfer (look picture), HDD is working as ATA-100. FreeBSD 4.9 find Intel ICH5 Sata150 Controller, but can't work with Sata => UDMA 33, 4.10 maybe work with Sata.
HDD is ok, Aida32/ Everest don't find smart- error.

This is a screenshot from my installed devices http://home.arcor.de/t-schuermann/3dc/system.PNG
can you see something like a sata- or raid controller? or something, that will help? i think, some of "systemplatine" is the sata- controller, but will noch be find :(.
The Intel(R) 82857P/E7210 Memory Controller Hib - 2578 found Windows, after the system works some hours, not after reboot.

i installed Intel Chipsatz 5.00.1012 from Dell => not found
Intel Chipsatz Version 5.1.1.1002 from Intel.com => not found
I format it and installed first driver from Dell => not found
after that, i installed driver from intel => not found
i installed the network drive => it detects the memory hub again and installed another driver for it, no sata
i look with Everest (Home Version), it found the controller as pci device and physical device, but Windows don't install a driver for it :(

sata is an interface, either the bios detects it or not, it seems it does. what is the problem youre having? there arent exactly "sata drivers" you install it and the bios and software detect it.
what isnt found? your system does not have a raid controller, but obviously your sata drive is working because you installed windows on it and are typing from it.

And do you think, i can install without a bluescreen? sometimes i can, sometimes i cant. when i get a bluescreen, i get kernel_data_inpage_error with stop 0x0000007a and 4 parameters after that in win32k.sys => System hangs up. sometimes i get the same bluescreen, when i transfer many data (installation like Baldurs Gate 2 oder Neverwinter Nights) or play a game. all this problem arent there, when windows detect a scsi or raid controller and install the little driver for that => if no driver for that installed, windows makes the problem. And i understand, that i cant use raid 0 or 1, but i cant use sata => hdd is just as ata-100 installed (not as sata), fine. what should i with a sata- hdd, when it makes errors and i cant use the full speed of the system?

this sounds like software corruption or spyware, malware. run a updated virus scan along with some spyware detection like ad-aware 6.0.
sata is simply a interface. it is a plug and play device should your mobo support it (which it does). the simplest way i could tell you to fix this is to do a fresh full reinstall of windows xp and reinstall all necessary drivers and windows critical updates. back up all your data first as it will all be deleted.

I updated today my Bios from Revision A03 to A05, format Windows, reinstall und doesnt find the Sata- Device again :(
Today, i installed another IDE- HDD (Samsung 120 GB from my old PC) on primary IDE- Channel (i have now 2 IDE- Primary Channels, one is the sata- HDD, the other is the Samsung, the second Channel is for both DVD-Reader), the system run fine (i transferd 65 GByte Data from Samsung to Seagate (Sata) HDD and back, no Problems), but that isnt a solution. When i remove the samsung, i will get the Problems again.
i know, that this sata is a simple device, but it have some bugs, i read at intel.com (but not my bug).
The problem here is from windows, it ask at ide-port for the sata-hdd, but the sata-hdd will not answer, windows interpret it as a controllererror and that is the problem. if i use another IDE- HDD, this will answer instead the sata and all is working perfekt. i dont know, what is wrong, but that is my question ...

is there a way to get full access at the bios, in the kid- mode (the standardmode), i can't change many things or do you know a program, what looks for status of sata controller and read flags from it?
Oh, i found out, what the scsi and raid- driver was, what i installed => deamon- tools and alcohol 120% trial installed driver.

MS- Site to the Problem (but no answer): http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/reskit/en-us/Default.asp?url=/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/reskit/en-us/prkd_tro_vfxu.asp
in the one thing (i dont know, how to named it in english), i found some controllererror's and one parityerror.
