Writing to DVD+R

Question

This is about burning video to DVD+R media. Is it possible to burn video to, say, 1/2 the media, then come back and add more to it on the second 1/2? Or, is it a one time process?  Once I burn, I'm done and can't add more? I'm new at this and have been reading all I can about DVDs from linkings mentioned here. But, I'm still on basics. Thanks.
