XP re-install - My Documents access denied

I recently had to reinstall Windows XP.  I am now denied access to my old screen name where the latest version of My Documents reside.  My last backup was two months ago so it is not a huge loss, but it would be good to recover the latest version of my files.  Any fix for this problem?

Do a Flag +E keys, go to tools/folder options  look for "display contents of system folders"  and  "show hidden files and folders"  tick both of them, hit OK, now you will be able to see your old user name Documents folder in "Documents and Settings" folder on the C drive.
 
Now you will have to take ownership of that folder as described here, then you will have access to the files inside, copy them to where you need them.
