XPS700 - BIOS Doesn't disable SATA drive

I added a 3 SATA HD to my system (2 existing drives are configured as RAID1).  The drive shows as the SATA-4 drive in the BIOS.  I turned that drive "off" in the BIOS (v 1.1.3) which according to the BIOS should disable the drive.  However, I still see that drive when choosing a drive for a Windows XP Pro installation.

Why does the system still show the drive when I've diabled it in the BIOS?

Disableing the drive in the bios does not remove the drive from being recognized by a plug and play os.
TO remove the drive in XP do the folowing... THis is non destructive tothe drive and basicaly hides it.

Right click MY computer
select manage
select Disk manager
right click on the volume in question and select remove drive letter.

bingo..should be hidden now.

Another option would be to pull the power plug to the drive.
