Dell Community Forum. The CDROM drive will not work on the parallel port cable.
That cable is only meant to be used with your floppy drive.
So, you need to get the floppy drive out of the system.
If it will not come out by use of the eject latch, then you will probably have to take the
system apart. You can find diagrams on doing so
here. Note:Dell cannot warrant any work that is not done by the Dell repair depot or certified
Dell onsite tech. Any work you do on the system yourself, you do at your own risk.
