You should have a small emergency eject hole on the drive...near the eject button, possibly, or below the sliding tray. It's just a small hole somewhere on the front. With the power OFF, insert a small object (paper clip, blunt end of needle, etc.,) in the hole and push gently...should release that rascal. You may have to gently rock the sliding tray up and down a bit to release it, while using wither the powered or emergency eject functions, if the disc became dislodged and jammed up in the mechanism.

Hi,

Another thing you might do before using the method Goonboy recommended is to click on My Computer on the desktop--right click on your CD-ROM drive (Probably D:Drive) and choose eject. Post back with results.

YOU need to eject the disc via the program you use to write on it with. had the same problem today in fact.
Just reopened dcd and clicked the eject cd option.

HI again,

Confused????

1. If the drive that will not open is the CD-ROM---click on "My Computer", right click on the drive and choose eject.

2. If the drive is the CD-RW---open Direct CD and right click on the icon in your System Tray and choose eject.

3. If neither method works--use the method Goonboy described.

It always pays to provide more information and it would be helpful if you post back with the results of any or all of these recommendations.

I just recently had a problem with this yesterday actually. I did click D Drive and it did open but once the cd/dvd is in and I am ready to eject i go to DDrive and it won't let me open it. I am clueless with laptops and I am unsure if I had any updates besides the automatic ones. What else can I do to fix this issue, I had only had this laptop for 6 months. I cannot afford to ship this laptop back for repairs so any help would be appriciated. Thanks
