Hello and thanks for any replies.
I own a Demension 2400 and would like input on what type of dvd rw to purchase. I would also like to know if anyone has tried external devices and what brands. I have not looked into replacing or adding an internal device as do not have any experience with anything other than adding a card here and there.

Hi Finnion,
I do not deal very much with external drives, so hopefully one of my friends will jump in here as well.
Our Regulars tend to recommend Plextor, BenQ, Pioneer, Lite-on, NEC brands to name a few. Your system will use IDE drives for internal installation and for on-line shopping consider New Egg.
Installation is not difficult, if you are replacing a drive, although not set in stone, go to Device Manager, select the drive and click Uninstall, shutdown.
Dell using the Cable Select jumper setting, not Master/Slave so set the jumper on the new drive to CS.
