error code 2000 - 0141 and warranty
my inspiron 1501 is giving me error message above which i believe is related to the non detection of the hard drive: my original 3 month warranty has expired, am i still covered by my 12 months statutary rights ( UK ) and therfore still within warranty?
will undoing the screws and trying to reconnect the drive affect my warrenty?
is there anything else i can do?
thanks in advance:mansad:

Yes, it sounds like your hard drive is faulty.

Hi, good to see you got it sorted out......however you may like to know that if the hard driuve is a Seagate Momentus then check the Seagate website for the specific drive model number you may find that the drive itself is still under warranty (most Seagate drives have a 5yr warranty) and you can request a warranty replacement from Seagate .... you must get an RMA number from them first by filling out the request on the website. I am posting this so other members can benefit from this.
Also don't be surprised about DELL's customer service. My last Inspiron ran into a motherboard problem when I was in Taiwan on a business trip and i called Dell customer service in the US at 9pm Taiwan time, and there was a repair tech with replacement motherboard arrived 9am the next morning from Taipei to fix it!! Frankly I consider DELL CS the best ..... no way I buy anything else other than a DELL.
