error message on startup

I am having a problem similar to one described in a recent thread.  I too have had the double beep on startup, and always managed to get past it by rebooting one or more times.

Now I get an error message at every startup, after windows loads (XP pro).  It is as follows...

58c: qttask.exe-No Disk

There is no disk in the drive.  Please insert a disk into drive\Device\Harddisk1\DR1.

cancel

The first part (58c) is different just about every time, different combinations of a number and letter.  When it first started it gave me this window just once

roman_1975,

Thanks for using the Dell Community Forum.

Go to http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/t1048113092 and see if this is of any help.

That was the problem exactly.  After I posted yesterday, I decided to use my brain a bit and searched for qttask.exe...came up with Quicktime.  I killed the auto-load into system tray option and the problem has ceased.

Thanks for pointing me to the right section!
