error message "Drive 1 not found...."

I have a 2005 Dell 4700 desktop.  Upon booting I get an error message: "Drive 1 not found Serial ATA, SATA-2.  Strike F1 key to continue, F2 to run setup."  I can bootup after striking the F2 key.  I looked at system info and there were no exclamation points.  I downloaded all the current drivers from the Dell site, and ran diagnostics: "All drivers are working properly."  What is wrong?  Thanks for your help.

Mike,

If you only have one SATA drive installed then you might want to go into the BIOS (press "F2" during Dell Logo) and turn off Drive 1 if nothing is present on that port.  That should get rid of the message at POST.

Ryan,

Thanks for the prompt response.  I have a CD rom drive HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8163 and a second DVD double layer driver PHILIPS DVD+-RW DVD8631.  I'llpost a response if I'm successful. Thanks again.

Ryan,

Your instructions worked.  I turned off Drive 1:SATA-2, and left Drives 0, 2, & 3 on.  My floppy, CD ROM, and RW DVD drives work fine.  The error message is gone.  Thanks for your help.
