exception processing message 0xc0000013 parameters 0x759f023c

All of a sudden, every time I open either my DVD drive or my DVRW drive to remove a CD or DVD, I get an error saying no disk and "exception processing message 0xc0000013 parameters 0x759f023c 0x87f51935 0x759f023c 0x759f023c."
I believe the only two things I did before this started happening was to update Itunes/Quicktime and update Corel PSP X2.
The drives both seem to work ok so I'm not sure why I'm getting this message.
It gives me 3 options: Cancel, try again, or continue. When I pick one of those options, nothing happens the first time around. I have to try a second time to get rid of the error message.
I am using a Dimension E521 with Windows Vista.

Hi Sheryl,

Have you tried rolling the system back to a date prior to these updates and/or uninstalling Itunes/QuickTime and see if the error goes away?

Edit:
Google this error message and all I find is a post from you at Table Questions. The Related threads cover some similiar issues and all seem to be associated with some software update. AVG or other anitvirus, a Windows Update, etc...

Best Regards!

No, I didn't try that but I will if I can figure out when I did those updates. I didn't really think too much about it at the time since I figured that error was just a fluke but it keeps happening even after the computer's been rebooted so I figured I'd try and find out why.
I too did a google search but didn't really come up with the exact same problem. The problem I saw was people getting the error on boot up but they showed different parameters.

I'll give the restore a try.
Thanks for the quick response.

I found the restore point. It was at the point where it said "Install device driver package install: Apple, Inc, USB controllers" so I restored it just before that point only it didn't help with this error message.
I'm still getting it but with different parameters. It now reads 0x75f8023c 0x888bcadc 0x75f8023c 0x758023c.

Hi Sheryl,

I believe the issue is most likely related to iTunes, before uninstalling the program, have you tried Apples forums to see if they have seen this?
I would hate to have you uninstall iTunes and it not help or make matters even worse.

Best Regards!

No, I haven't been to an itune forum but I will and see if anyone can help me.
I'm backing up all my files right now in case I need to just wipe out my computer and restore it to factory settings.
I hope it doesn't come to that.

I went to the Apple site and tried doing a search for my error but nothing came up.
Maybe I have to call Dell or maybe I have to wipe out my computer.
BTW, for some reason, when I'm buring a CD and then remove it, I don't get any error. Seems kind of odd.

Hi Sheryl,

Lets cover the drivers and the filters, this will at least take them out of the equation. Windows will rewrite them once you restart your system.
Click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 15, article 1 (works for Vista); Section 101, article 10.
If you decide to start fresh, please consider posting on Software-Vista board. I believe our experts on the Vista board know how to restore the system to factory settings. There may be an easy repair feature as well, I am not up to par on Vista, sorry. I have the link at home in my notes but unfortunately not here at work.

Best Regards!

I unistalled just my DVD drive and then rebooted the computer but that didn't seem to help.
I still get an error but with more new parameters.
I didn't want to try uninstalling both drives in case I still needed to save something on my computer and things got so bad that I lost my burner so I figured I'd try just uninstalling the DVD drive.
Do you think I should post a question on the Vista board regarding this problem?

Hi Sheryl,

I would, those ladies and gentlemen that frequent the Vista board are very, very good. If there is a way to repair this hopefully someone will know.
I did a little more researching and came up blank on this error message. If you do receive an answer, please drop me a note, I would like to enter it in my notes and the CD/RW page.

Best Regards,
Jeff

I'll let you know if I find out anything. I'll try posting a message on the Vista board.
I posted a message at the Apple site so I'll see if someone helps me out there too.
In my search it looks as if someone had a similar problem and thought Quick Time was to blame. That got updated with iTunes so maybe it's the problem.
I don't have the updated version on my computer right now, at least I don't think I do. When I tried to get some help from iTunes, I got a message saying it wasn't installed on my computer any more so it started to reinstall itself, then I got an error message saying Quick Time wasn't installed so I did a repair of it.
I just have a feeling I may need to wipe everything out in order to get rid of that error.
Nothing seems to be running smoothly right now in fact, some of my programs seem to be running slow. If this goes on much longer, it's going to drive me completely nuts. I don't like it when something goes wrong with my computer.
In any event, thanks for the help you were trying to give me.

I thought I'd tell you that so far, no one has even attempted to help me so my problem hasn't been solved or gone away.
I'm probably going to have to call Dell direct when I have time to stay on hold for awhile.
And I thought I'd tell you, I tried to uninstall both of my DVD drives and see if that would help but it didn't.
Maybe there's just no answer for this.

Hi Sheryl,

I have not been able to find anything else as well.
The only two things I can think of (not counting OS reinstall); uninstaling/reinstalling iTunes and QuickTime; and/or a repair install of Vista (if possible)

If you uninstall iTunes, as a safety percaution, backup all your music.

Best Regards!

I still haven't had any help with this problem and I haven't decided what root I'm going to take but I'm wondering if some new information will help you figure out what could be wrong.
I wanted to copy a CD today and when I told the computer to copy using my Nero burning software, I got an error message saying E:\contains invalid path.
I was able to copy the CD. In fact I tried it twice and got that same error message only the cd copied correctly.
Do you think this is related to my original problem?

Good news. I believe I fixed the problem and it had nothing to do with iTunes or Quick time.
I had updated my Corel psp x2 software the same day I updated iTunes and Quick time and when I did the restore, the updated version of Corel stayed.
I didn't think too much about it or realize the program was updated but the program itself has been driving me nuts. Ever since this drive problem, the program has a slight pause when you go to save a picture. Normally I'd click save and it just saved but now I get a circle spinning for a second or two and then it saves.
In any event, since it's been driving me nuts, I decided to uninstall the software and reinstall it. I was surprised I didn't get the no disk error when I took my software out of the DVD drive so I tried some more disks and still no error.
It appears the Corel psp x2 update was the cause of my problem.
I wanted you to know in case anyone else has a similar problem.
I really appreciate you trying to help me. You were the only one from any message board I posted this problem on.

Hi,

Just to let any further readers of this thread know that I have an answer, or at least a workaround, for this.

Sheryl is absolutely correct. I too have Corel PSP X2 Photo and get exactly the same behaviour on Vista. The fault lies with a background program that runs on startup called Corel File Shell Monitor. You can disable this to prevent the error without actually uninstalling the whole of Corel.

1. Press Windows+R to get the Run box and enter MSCONFIG

2. Go to the Startup tab

3. Find and uncheck the Corel File Shell Monitor

4. Hit apply and restart your system.

I'm not sure what it does, but I suspect the only downside is you wont get Corel in the available options popping up when you insert USB cards and CDs etc into your PC. Personally I'm not bothered about that.

I still have the question outstanding with Corel as to what they're doing about it. If I hear anything further I will post it here.
