The Startech 2.5 to 3.5 inch SATA Aluminum Hard Drive Adapter Enclosure, should work fine, providing it is no more than 1" in height.

As the bay adaptor is 1.4' in height, it is possible that the adaptor will not fit into the internal bay, as the bay is made to take standard 3.5" wide x 1" high hard drives.
Why do the SATA data and power connectors not fit?

Hi Electromagnet,
It would be helpful if you explain exactly what you are trying to do. If you are looking for some way of holding an SSD in a desktop, I've got a post on that topic. Just search.
If you are unable to connect the SSD to your existing SATA data and power connectors in your Dimension 3100, please provide some information about the exact make and model of the SSD. Most of them take standard SATA connectors, but of course there's no way for anyone to know what problem you're running into unless you explain things.

I have this tray for the SSD to the hard drive caddie.
The data and power cables are blocked.

That does not tell me anything. Is it a cable issue, or what?
Which bay adaptor are trying to use, the first one you posted a link to, or the Kingston Technology 2.5-3.5 inch Brackets and Screws for Solid State Drive, that you posted a second link to?

I got this and tried to use it but I can't connect the leads.
I was using that. Trying to put a SSD in that blue caddie and can't figure out how to make sure the power and data cables reach properly.

I am trying to put a SSD in that blue caddie and connect the power and data leads, but they don't reach.
I bought the Kingston Technology 2.5-3.5 inch Brackets and Screws for Solid State Drive.
But it is out of alignment.

Regards to the hard drive carrier, you could cut and remove the plastic tab that's stopping access to the SSD data connector, the plastic tab is not required, it's only there for to hold a standard 3.5" HD in place inside the carrier, this would be a very simple fix.
As the default data and power cables are too short to reach the SSD.
Try replacing the SATA data cable with a longer cable, SATA data cables are readily available in all sizes up to 24", see Here:

Regards to the power cable being too short, buy a SATA power cable extension, similar to This:

I recommend the Silverstone SDP08. I have used it in the Dell BTX chassis, although I had to cut out a piece from the back of the blue caddy.

Yes, the dual SATA power and data cable shown in your link, should work.

This fits perfect, but Windows 10 has to have drivers, for the chipset, audio, and graphics card.
Which you can get, I loaded them, fiddle with the settings and windows features.
