mem.exe Whats it?

When I shutdown the computer, frequently I get a message about ending a file called "mem.exe". It is in system32 folder. Is it safe to delete it?

Thanks,

NO, Mem.exe is an external command used in MS Dos from the System32 directory for running status on apps. and resources loaded in memory. I would not delete it, but I would find out why it's utilized unless your running a hidden app. or something during shutdown that you might not be aware of. You can select RUN, then CMD, then type in mem.exe and enter, or mem.exe /program. This will give you the status of what is loaded for memory use. It's better to see what might be using your memory or trying to stay up and running after shutdown. But don't delete it. It's notifing you that something in memory is loaded for running or there is littlet memory left for other resources. Start up your virus scans and spyware. Don't forget to shut off the system restore feature before running both types of anti-stuff so that the memory doesn't retain it after rebooting and rerunning the anti-stuff programs you have. Then after your up again, go to system restore in the computer properties and turn it back on.
