Jbottorf,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
Are you closing the CD session when writing to the cd?
You must leave the cd open to add more sessions.
Can you list the exact steps you are using to create the cd?

Karell C.     I think I  "closed to read on any computer" initially.  If I was given the option I know I would have chosen to close session but leave cd open.  Since asking the question I have been able to write more data to the disk using direct cd and drag and drop.  It is just the easy creator that won't cooperate.

Jbottorf,

Once you have formatted the CD for "drag and drop" usage, you cannot use Easy Cd to write files to the cd anymore. To use the "drag and drop" features, you must format the cd with Direct CD.
Once you have formatted a CDRW cd, you can use the option in Direct CD to remove the format and return the CDRW cd to a fresh configuration. Having said that, you can try the following.
1.Uninstall Easy CD Creator.
2.Reboot and reinstall Easy CD.
3.After installing Easy CD go to the Roxio web page and install all the latest patches/updates.
4.Once that is done, you will need to save any data on the cd, and use Direct CD to remove the "format for drag and drop" feature from the cd. Then you can try writing multiple sessions to the cd again.

Using an HP3570C scanner I scanned a 35mm slide and wrote it to a CD-RW. When I scanned a second slide and tried to write it to the same CD I was prompted to insert a new CD even though the CD was less than 5% used. How can I WRITE SLIDES INDIVIDUALLY TO A CD?

Lyonden,

First format the CDRW cd with direct CD.
Then simply write the first files to the CD using the "DATA CD" option of Easy CD Creator.
You can go back later, and use the "DATA CD" option again to write more files to the cd.
The trick is to not close or finalize the cd, because you are closing it permanently.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Steps to Creating a Data disk using Easy CD Creator 5 Basic

1.Launch the Data CD Project within the Project Selector.
2.Wait for the program to initialize, and now you should have an Untitled Data CD Project layout.
3.Browse to the location of your Data files. You can do this by clicking on the drop down menu where it says, “Select your Source files”. Now locate the folder where your files are located.
4.Once you have your Data files listed. Click and drag the files to the bottom right of the layout, or you can highlight the audio file then click on “Add”.
5.Do this to all the Data files that you want to record. But be sure not to exceed the amount available on your CDR/CDRW disk. The blue bar at the bottom will tell you how much space available space you have left on your CDR/CDRW disk.
6.Now that you have all your Data files selected, insert your CDR/CDRW disk into your CDRW drive.
7.Click on “Record”.
8.A Record CD Setup dialog will come up. Click on “Options” on the bottom right hand corner. This will give you your options on how you would like to record your disk. Use the Disk-At-Once option if you want to finalize the disk, and you do not want to add anything else to the disk. Use the Track-At-Once feature if you want to burn something now and then some more files at a later time. But make sure when you use the Track-At-Once option, you have it set at “Finalize Session, Don’t Finalize CD”. The “Finalize CD” option is for when you want to close your disk.

Like the instructions state, use the Track-At-Once option, and make sure the option for “Finalize Session, Don’t Finalize CD” is enabled.

9.Once you have everything selected click on “Start Recording”.
10.Now the recording process should start, and when its finished your CD will be ready to be read by all CD-Rom drives.
