power calibration error, burn process failed
i use nero burning rom to burn cds. it used to work fine. recently when i try to do burn cds, the burn process begins, but then the log says "power calibration error" and a box pops up that says that the burn process failed at 48x...etc. reducing the write speed has no effect, and i can't seem to get it to work at all. this happens every time, no matter what brand of cd i use. can anyone help?

Hi uw ska chic,
If you jump over to Nero`s site, you will find an article on their site that states first try a different brand of media, exactly what John suggested. Also it can be an issue with the drive itself, however if the dirve in question is a Dell installed drive, you must use a Firmware validated by Dell, which will be in their File Library.
If Dell has a firmware available for your drive you should find it by clicking on the "Downloads" tab above, enter information for your system and follow the links.
You may wish to clean the drive as well, use a can of compressed air, short puffs.
Click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 12, article 3 from Dell-Stephen to test your drive.
Best Regards

Thanks John !
Lot of destruction with these lastest storms, pretty bad in places.
I saw your link for the Sony Tool, I`ll add it to Section 7-5 when I get the chance, thanks !
