problems with clean install of XP Professional

I recently purchased a Dell Dimension E520 desktop. It came loaded from the factory with Spanish language XP Professional. I am trying to do a clean download of XP Professional English version. I get the blue screen with the following msg: STOP:0x0000007B (0xF7A8A524,0XC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000).

I have run chkdsk and found no errors.  I believe this has something to do with RAID/SATA thing.  I turned it off and was then able to install the new XP on  "I" drive.  I thought that would be better than nothing but was wrong, I ended up with memory problems.

When I booted I could load the English version, if I tried the Spanish version I would then get the blue screen.  When I turned the RAID back on I could load the Spanish but not the English.

I changed the computer to boot from disk, and rebooted with the new XP English disk.  I tried to delete the old XP from C drive but received the following msg: "Setup is unable to perform the requested operation on the selected partition.  This partition contains temporary setup files that are required to complete this installation."  I was able to delete the XP English version from "I".

Now when I boot I have three options,
#1 The English version now gives the msg "Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from the selected boot disk.."
#2 is the Spanish version which downloads fine
#3 is another start of an installation that I did not complete but can't get rid of

My goal is to have only the English version installed, and only the one option when I turn my computer on!  Help please.

casblanc:

Let me point you to this site, which explains in excellent detail how to delete all partitions on the drive prior to installing XP.

You'll then want to follow these instructions to install the drivers.

You Spanish version has the RAID SATA Driver installed therefore it boots with RAID on.  When loading your English version you'll need the RAID Drivers on a 1.44 floppy diskette in the A: (Make sure the FDD is NOT in the Boot sequence) then boot to the XP CD/DVD.  The RAID drive will load automatically during the boot to the XP Media then you should not get the 7B error.

If you are using a single drive, you can disable the RAID in bios then install XP without the RAID driver/Floppy.
