10-001 Exam Calculating Disk Requirements

I am studying for the 10-001 exam and am stumbling when calculating the number of disks that an application requires based the size of its file system and iops requirements. Can anyone point me to a whitepaper or knoweledge base article that goes over how to determine the disk sizing for both capacity and performance requirements?

Thank you  in advance for your help.

You need to figure out both of these before you will have your answer.

  1. DC = (Total capacity required)/(Capacity of a single disk)
  2. Dp = (IOPS generated by an application at peak workload)/(IOPS serviced by a single disk)

Number of disks needed is the max between (1) and (2)

Hope this helps.
