Support Assist Virus scan

I recently upgraded my support level which now includes usage of the malware/virus scan via support assist.  I'm finding that this scan is a real slow resource hog - is this normal?  Its taking up a lot of resources from my CPU and running my hard drive at 100% (which seems really extreme considering its SSD.  It sits at 6% for a real long time (at the time of writing this its been 53 minutes).  Is any of this normal and is there any idea of how long this takes.  I'm about to kill it but wanted to check if this is normal or not.  Thanks.

Hi enilson4

This activity is normal as supportassist is reading every file on your computer and using your CPU to run scans on them.

Agreed - this is just the most intensive scan I've ever seen.  With a not-close-to-full SSD drive I would expect the whole thing to be much quicker when compared to other virus scan tools.  I've been advised to uninstall and reinstall so I'm going to see how that impacts it.
