Storreclaim - why can't I set the -rate option to anything above 95?

The StorReclaim utility has a -rate option which we can set to reclaim anywhere from 1-95% of the unwritten space on a disk.   The customer cannot set it to anything above 95%. If a customer has a large disk, such as 5TB, that 5% can be pretty significant.

I'm curious why we can't set it to 99 or 100%?  Anyone know?

It is my understanding that Storreclaim creates a balloon file ,like Yankees referred to, to mark and reclaim the space and if it was set to 100 it would consume all of the available capacity for a period of time. Even briefly that isnt a desirable situation so the decision was to limit it to 95%.

Hi Pete,

try to use the rate from 1 to 95.

If this option is not specified a value will be calculated and specified automatically.

Actually i am not sure but if you trying to set the value at 99% it has to do with the ballon file that will block that action.

Again i am not sure and i have to investigate ti.

Thanks.  It works fine when we do rate 1-95.  The question really is why can't we set it to 100?  Why is the limit 95?
