Timfinder question?

Hi All,

What technology does timefinder use?

1. Timefider/Snap  ---> copy on first write

2. Timefinder/Clone ---> copy on access

Is above right?

what's different between background copy and precopy?

Thanks for clarification.

Best Regards,

Dennis Dai

Clones can also create copy on writes, if created and activated without pre-copy.  Clones can also force a copy on read from the target device.  Snap will not copy on read from the target device.

Precopy is copy after creation, but before activation.

Background copy happens after activation

it all depends what options are selected during "create" phase, plus version of SE matters too. Everything is documented, just need to take the time and read.

Dennis,

have you had a chance to look at Timefinder documentation, your questions are explained in details there.
