In our enviroment 4 hosts connected to same FA port and all hosts are symcli installed/registered, but symcfg list -connection is showing only one host, why not it is showing the other 3 hosts.
After executing symcfg discover, the host(which was not showing even sol. enabler was installed and registered) is showing with symcfg list -connection.
In below output if you check host "itdrp1db" entry is not showing which is conected with 4a0 and 13a0 in actual , in the below image I executed symcfg list in itdrp1db server which is discovering the sym box. Please help me to understand why it is not showing with -connection arg with symcfg
it depends on your environment, some people install SE on their database hosts because they want to run TimeFinder commands there. Does it make it a management host, it manages symmetrix device operation right ? I consider management hosts that are used to do more than just run TimeFinder/SRDF commands. I consider SMC/ECC/Unisphere for VMAX/Solution Enabler hosts to be management hosts. Symm management is in-band and requires gatekeepers.
