How do I "remove" an SRDF Group when the delete-pair command doesn't work?

Hi,

I'm working on some delete pairs, and everytime I run the command  "symrdf -sid serial -f "createpair.textfile" deletepair -rdfg "RDF-number" -force", I get as a respond that there's some tracks in the target array and the pair cant be delete it.

So I run a query and yes I see some tracks on the target side that wasnt replicated it, the pair right now is in "Split" status and I cant not re-establish the session because that would cause a re-write of everything on the target side and that would be an outage for the servers that are contected in that array.

So my question here is, Is there any other command that I could use in order to delete the pair when we get this kind of problems with the normal delete-pair command?

Thanks

Hi,

If there are local invalid tracks on the target side, must use -symforce if the target is not an R11 or R21. Make sure to set the parameter SYMAPI_ALLOW_RDF_SYMFORCE to TRUE in the options file (default location: C:\Program Files\EMC\SYMAPI\config) to use the -symforce flag.

Hope it helps. Thanks!

Hi Santiago,

Please goto the OPTIONS file in the location i mentioned before and find the parameter. Once done, remove the # symbol which is at the start of the line and set the parameter to TRUE and save the file. Removing the # symbol brings the line into effect.

Once done, restart the base daemon, first by running the following command to stop it --> stordaemon shutdown storapid -immediate. And then stordaemon start storapid to start the daemon. You can then run the deletepair command with the switch -symforce and it should work.

R11 and R21 refers to concurrent or cascaded SRDF setups, which I assume is not in your case. Thanks!

Hi Roshan!,

Thanks for your reply, but I'm not sure what do you mean with R11 or R21, when I created the pair I put everything in terms of the source array so I used "R1" indicating that 's my  source array please see bellow my command for more detail.

symrdf -f createpair.txt -sid ARRAY_R1 -rdfg "RDF number" createpair -type R1 -establish -rdf_mode acp_disk

And how exactly can I set the SYMFORCE command?.

I really appreciate your help!
