LACP and FSN configuration on VNX
Hi Friends,
I am configuring a VNX 5200 array for NAS and have to configure the DMs now. I am not good with the NAS part and hence need some help here.
server_sysconfig server_2 -pci showed me there are 4 GIGE ports and out of that 2 (cge-1-1 and cge-1-2)are link up.
its the same with server_3 as well.
how do I check whether the lacp is configured or FSN is configured already. If I have to configure it how do I go with it.
2 ports in the DM is showing as link up, does that mean those two are cabled. If yes and if they are configured to an aggregation, should each port get connected to two different switches?
server_ifconfig server_2 -all server_2 : el30 protocol=IP device=mge0 inet=128.221.252.2 netmask=255.255.255.0 broadcast=128.221.252.255 UP, Ethernet, mtu=1500, vlan=0, macaddr=0:60:16:37:5f:77 netname=localhost el31 protocol=IP device=mge1 inet=128.221.253.2 netmask=255.255.255.0 broadcast=128.221.253.255 UP, Ethernet, mtu=1500, vlan=0, macaddr=0:60:16:37:5f:76 netname=localhost loop6 protocol=IP6 device=loop inet=::1 prefix=128 UP, Loopback, mtu=576, vlan=0, macaddr=0:0:0:0:0:0 netname=localhost loop protocol=IP device=loop inet=127.0.0.1 netmask=255.0.0.0 broadcast=127.255.255.255 UP, Loopback, mtu=576, vlan=0, macaddr=0:0:0:0:0:0 netname=localhost

please see the VNX Manual named "Configuring and Managing Network High Availibility on VNX" available from support.emc.com which covers this in great detail.
if there are FSN or LACP configured then server_sysconfig -virtual will show it
P.S.: pasting command output with with no formatting doesnt make it easy to read

Thanks Rainer, I was going through the doc and have a doubt on the FSN.
Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet Controller
0: cge-1-0 IRQ: 24
speed=auto duplex=auto txflowctl=disable rxflowctl=disable Link: Down
0: cge-1-1 IRQ: 25
speed=auto duplex=auto txflowctl=disable rxflowctl=disable Link: Up
0: cge-1-2 IRQ: 26
speed=auto duplex=auto txflowctl=disable rxflowctl=disable Link: Up
0: cge-1-3 IRQ: 27
speed=auto duplex=auto txflowctl=disable rxflowctl=disable Link: Down
here port 1 and 2 are up so can I configure a lacp trunk for these two ports and have them connect to two different switches?

yes - *IF* your switch supports cross-switch LACP - not every one does
