NDMP VNXe 3100 with Symantec Netbackup
Trying to configure NDMP backups with our Symantec Netbackup environment.
I was able to successfully authenticate to our CIFS server.
I run the job and get the following errors:
9/9/2011 12:58:19 PM - Error ndmpagent(pid=2344) MOVER_HALTED unexpected reason = 4 (NDMP_MOVER_HALT_CONNECT_ERROR)
9/9/2011 12:58:20 PM - Error ndmpagent(pid=2344) NDMP_LOG_ERROR 0 SnapSure file system creation fails
9/9/2011 12:58:21 PM - Error ndmpagent(pid=2344) DATA_HALTED error, reason = 2 (NDMP_DATA_HALT_ABORTED)
9/9/2011 12:58:22 PM - Error ndmpagent(pid=2344) NDMP backup failed, path = //lon-eu-app-01/c$/LON-EU-APP-01
Can't seem to figure it out.
Has anyone succesfully configured NDMP jobs with Symantec Netbackup?

Looks like you are trying NDMP with automatic snapshot or VBB which isn't supported

On the NetBackup side
Look for a Snapshot variable

This isn't supported on the VNXe 3100?
If that's the case were do I turn off automatic snapshot? At the netbackup level?
Thanks,
Damian

I'm having the same problem. It seems like NetBackup does not allow you to change the snapshot options on an NDMP backup. Is there a way to enable snapshots on the VNXe?

Netbackup should allow you to disable calling a snapshot in the backup policy. Add a line that reads "Snapsure = NO" and see if that works for you.
Let us know if that helps!

Yes you can enable snapshots on VNXe.
To enable snapshots.
>Login to VNXe web GUI (Unisphere.)
> select storage tab.
>select Filesystem and select protection size tab.
(Protection space is a space allocated for snapshots. and its completely separated from File system (FS) size. hence configuring protection space wont take space from FS but it will claim it from storage pool.[considering VNXe has enough space in storage pool]) ).
Now once you have allocated enough protection space (default 100% of FS size). you should be able to take snapshots on that FS.
let me know if you still have an issues? and if its resolved please post your solution.
