upgrading an array
I have a VNX 5300:
Block Software Version: 05.32.000.5.216
File Software Version: 7.1.76-4
I am wondering is it safe to install the latest updates or do I need to traverse all updates one at a time?

You should be OK to go to the latest release,. Make sure you read the release notes for Block and File to be sure about the upgrade order, I think you're supposed to upgrade File first, then Block. Also, make sure that all your hosts are up-to-date and that all hosts have the correct settings for failover. Same for your switches (basically all the components in the SAN environment). You also might want to check the switches for any errors before the upgrade also - you may have to clear the stats counters to be sure that any errors are not historical.
