Below is the message I get when I run Hijack This:

When I ran it, this message came up:  "For some reason your system denied write access to the Hosts file.  If any hijacked domains are in this file, Hijack This may not be able to fix this.  If that happens, you need to edit the file yourself.  To do this, click Start, Run and type: notepad c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and press enter.  Find the line(s) Hijack This reports and delete them.  Save the file as 'hosts' (with quotes), and reboot.  For Vista, simply, exit Hijack This, right click on the Hijack This icon, choose 'Run as administrator'."

I do not have an option to run as administrator, so how do I save the log?  When I click on OK to close the dialog, Notepad will open (with nothing in it) and the message is "Cannot find the C:\Program Files (x86)\Trend Micro\HiJackThis\hijackthis.log file. Do you want to create a new file?  When I click on Yes, or No, nothing happens.

How is the PC running now?

Hi,

It seems to be running ok, but somewhere along the line, Google Earth was uninstalled.  I was just trying to reinstall it, but I cannot locate the program.  It downloaded, then I ran the .exe, but no program, no icon, etc.  Can you tell if there is something blocking the installation somewhere?

See if Google Earth is still listed in the Program and Features list. If so, then uninstall it and reinstall it
