switch to cluster mode failed when installing ScaleIO

I'm trying to install scale IO on W2k12 R2 servers and get the following error when I install using the default 3 node wizard:

Command failed: Received configuration with 0 TBs and slave MDMs

"newClusterMode": "MDM_CLUSTER_MODE_3_NODES", "commandID": "MDM Commands<->186", "untrustedCertificateThumbprint": null, "commandState": "failed", "startTime": "2016-07-15T02:41:18.481Z", "message": "Command failed: Received configuration with 0 TBs and slave MDMs", "result": null, "followingCommand": "AddProtectionDomainCommand[working on= (MDM) [10.202.200.18, 10.202.200.13]]", "acceptInState": false, "allowedPhase": "configure", "archived": false, "commandName": ".SwitchToClusterModeCommand", "commandParameters": []

Hi,

Is the wizard failing every time, or you only tried it once?

Did you try to use the CSV file instead of the wizard? Please give it a go and see if that helps.

If the error is still there, please attach the installation logs and we will have a look.

Thanks!

I've tried a few time using the three node install and always it stops at the same place.

How do I attach the log files?

I'll try the CSV option Pawel. Please see attached logs from the wizard install.

Hi,

Did you try the CSV file like I suggested or only the wizard?

Please try to use "attach image" icon for the log file.

Thanks,

Pawel

Hi,

It seems that the logs were not uploaded anyway.. Please give the CSV a try and if it's still failing - I will create an FTP dropzone for you. Let me know how did it go.

Thank you,

Pawel

Hi, I created a CSV file as shown below and this time I get a different error message.

"Command failed: Could not add SDS 10.202.200.12 to Protection Domain default due to: Could not open SDS device"

Thanks

I got past this error by

1) Removing the assigned drive letter

2) Change to MBR

3) Updating the CSV to use PhysicalDrive2 rather than the drive letter

I've now been able to install the software. Its curious why the default 3 node install wizard didn't work.

I think you need to use just the drive letters, without "\" , in the CSV file.

Not sure about the wizard to be honest - maybe there also were some extra characters typed when you tried to use it?
I haven't heard about any issues with the wizard. If time permits, I will try to recreate it but for now please use the CSV option.

Enjoy ScaleIO :-)

I'll give that a try. However the CSV files (ScaleIO_Complete_Config.csv) provided with the install has a Windows machine with E:\ as the drive letter.
