Getting Windows Ready

I have a XPS 13 which has just applied the latest Windows 10 update. I am now having problems with the laptop being stuck on 'Getting Windows Ready' for hours. I eventually re-installed Windows and it waited long enough for me to renstall all my programs before having the same problem again. How can this be?

Assistance would be gratefully appreciated as soon as possible, as I need this laptop for work.
