Cannot restore Windows 8 on my new SSD
Hello all,
I have had installed a new 500GB SSD on my Inspiron 14Z 5423.
I tried to use de USB-drive I created three months ago with Dell Backup and Recovery to recreate and rebuild the software (clean) on my laptop.
However the thing does not want to work, among others I get a 0xc0000001 message. does this mean that the USB-disk is corrupt ? I also tried it with a SATA-cable using the old HD linked via USB. Is this caused because the SSD is built in "and the recovery drive deos not know that" ?
Since I cannot do anything with my laptop I cannot recreate the USB recovery disk, I assume a recovery disk from another Dell (XPS12) will not work because it is a different machine, is that correct ?
Would a Windows.ISO burned to a DVD work ? I have a DVD station in my laptop.
Please advise.

Thank you,
So far I have been able to reinstall Windows 8.1 as per instructions.
Windwos 10 will be a separate step.

Great, thanks for letting us know. [Y} You have about 11.5 months to carry out the free upgrade to Windows 10. :)
