Dell Inspiron 530S upgrade to Windows 7

My desktop is Dell Inspiron 530 S with Windows Vista. I want to update to Windows 7 Ultimate. How can I get the drivers & Bios update compactable for Windows 7 as the website has only drivers for OS Windows XP & Vista. Please help

Hi,

You can check if the computer meets the minimum requirements for Windows 7 from the Windows 7 upgrade advisor. Inspiron 530S is shipped with Windows Vista. The drivers for same are available on support website. Some of the Vista drivers would work in Windows 7, if you face any issues in installing drivers for Windows 7, you can try installing the vista drivers in compatibility mode and see if it works. If the issue still persists, you may need to get drivers from the device manufacturer's website. 

You can follow the steps below to install drivers in compatibility mode: 

  • Download the drivers for your computer from support website.
  • Right Click the driver installation file and select Properties -- > Compatibility Tab.
  • Select Windows vista from the list in the following image.

 

  • Click Apply -- > OK.
  • Right Click the file and select the Run As Administrator option to install.
  • Follow the prompts on screen.
