Can't locate latest Microsoft QFEs on Dell's "Drivers & Downloads" page as instructed in the Dell "How-To" Guide

I am using the "Dell Business Client Re-Image "How-To" Guide Latitude E-Family & Mobile Precision" document, Revision 5.0 A05 07/24/2012.  Section 2.6.2 of that guide says:

"Dell recommends installing all of the latest available fixes specific to the systems.  For 1st 2nd and 3rd generation Latitdue E-Family & Mobile Precision, these are available through the Dell System Software utility posted on Dell's drivers & downloads support website under the "System Utilities" section."

I have scoured the "Drivers & Downloads" page and other areas and can't find a "System Utilties" section, nor can I find a "Microsoft QFE" patch anywhere. Can you help me idenitfy the location where I can download it?

I have a Latitude E-6500 (first generation) running Windows 7 32-bit.

Hi Armstrong043,

On 'Drivers and Downloads' page, Select the Operating system Windows 7 32-bit. You will find a category of 'System Utilities' there. Alternatively, you can download the Dell System Software from the link: http://dell.to/VTp1J6

Steps to download drivers:-

  • Click 'Download file' to download the list to a folder you will designate.
  • Click 'Save'. Then designate the folder you would like to save the files to.
  • Once you have designated the folder you would like to save your files to, Click 'OK'.
  • Selected downloads will automatically start downloading. Next is Installation.
  • To start installation, Click Open folder. Right-click a downloaded file and select the option to ‘Run as administrator’.
  • A small window will appear with 'Continue' and 'Exit' buttons, click 'Continue'.
  • In the Select the folder where you want to unzip the files to window, click OK.
  • If a message appears asking to create a folder, click 'Yes'. If a message appears asking to overwrite the folder, click 'Yes to All'.
  • In the All files were successfully unzipped window, click OK.
  • A new window will appear, follow the prompts that appear to finish the installation.
  • Restart your computer.

Please reply for further clarifications.
