Dell Studio XPS 8100 - Windows XP Driver Issue

I have a Dell Studio XPS 8100 that I am trying to dual-boot to Windows 7 and Windows XP.

The computer has the Intel H57 Chipset.  I am trying to find the right drivers to get the SATA drivers working correctly on the XP install.  I tried downloading the chipset drivers and putting them in the XP CD installer based on an online tutorial.  I get an error when it tries to load the drivers.

Can anyone point me to the correct drivers that I should be putting into the XP disk for my computer?  Tried 3 different ones and failed each time.  Somewhat frustrated on this one.

Hi JDL-Dell,

Dell Studio XPS 8100 has not been tested in Windows Xp environment. Hence we donot have the XP drivers.

However, you can try downloading Windows 7 drivers and run it in compatibility mode.

To run in compatible mode you can follow the below steps:

(1) Download the .exe file(windows 7 driver)

(2) Right click on the file and click on properties

(3) Click on Compatibility tab

(4) Check the “Run this program in compatibility mode for” option and select Windows XP in the bottom list

(5) Then click apply and ok.

Check if this works. If this doesn’t work, I request you to visit the manufacturer website and download the XP driver.

For instance “Intel H57 Chipset driver” can be found in Intel website.
