Error#0x80240036 related to windows update.
Cannot install any updates after re-installing XP. Never had this problem before. Have re-installed many times on my 2006 model XPS-410. I have made 4 attempts to re-install and this occurs each time. I believe it isn't installing the components necessary for Windows Update to function. Don't know what to do next. Maybe I am installing drivers in the wrong sequence. Installing them the way I always have. Really stumped by this one. Anyone have the answer for this issue. It would be greatly appreciated.

Richard,
When you reinstalled the operating system, did you install the Desktop/Notebook system software and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order
Start with the Desktop/Notebook system software and the chipset drivers and follow the list.
