Error message "Delete restoration data & proceed to system boot menu"...

I have an Inspiron 5100. I am stuck on the blue screen with the message: "The system could not be restarted from its previous location due to read failure. Delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu. I have tried Ctrl/Alt/Del, the F2 and F12 keys to no avail. I have turned the computer on and off numerous times with the same message appearing each time. How do I get unstuck?!

Have you tried the Enter key? Have a look at this article.

All this means is that the Hibernation data is corrupted and the system cannot use this data to startup. And then asks the question do you want to delete this restoration data and then proceed to boot normally.
