Invalid System ID Media Direct 3.5

Hello everyone. I am new to the forums so I hope I posted this in a right spot. I have a Inpiron 6400 with XP it is about 3 years old. The hard drive crashed a few months ago and I finally got a new one. I called Dell and got all the cd's(I think). Anyways I installed Media Direct 3.5 first and followed all the steps. Then I installed Windows XP and all the drivers then I continue with MD and it says invalid system ID. I have cyberlink and quickset installed. Everything works fine on the computer side of thigs. So where did I go wrong??? On the MD disk it says " for reinstalling dell mediadirect 3.5 on dell xps computers" does that make a diffrence? Any help would be great Thank You..
