Vista SP2 Caused Total Failure

Several months ago I installed Windows Vista SP2 on myInspiron 530.

There was a total failure of the system.

Dell "support" wanted me to completely wipe the hard drive and start from scratch. I was not willing to do this.

Microsoft was aware of the problem which only affects Dell products and walked me through several hours of recovering my hard drive and data. some was never recovered.

Windows is now prompting me to intall SP2 again.

Will I have the same crash and burn?

rlof24,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

It's hard to say if the system will crash. Did you install sp2 through auto-updates the last time? If you do install sp2 make sure you back up your data first and also disable the firewall. You may to also turn off any anti-virus software running as well.
