Win7 Clean Install after upgrade

I have a Studio Desktop that came with Vista Home Prem 64-bit. I upgraded to Win7 using the "Windows 7 Upgrade Assistant DVD" and Win7 Home Premium Upgrade DVD from Dell.  Now I have to replace the hard drive and want to do a clean Win 7 install. Can I install directly from the Win7 Upgrade DVD? Any helpful wisdom would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

Hi jaylinnh,

You should be able to install the operating system using the Windows 7 Upgrade Assistant DVD. You must have got a product key with the disk. Ensure that you use that product key during the installation.

For information on Windows Installation refer to the link mentioned below:

See my wiki Windows Reinstallation Guide:

http://philipyip.wordpress.com/dell-community-forums/

Follow the steps to create media using the Digital River Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium with Service Pack 1 .iso (page 287).

The .iso should be more up to date than your DVD and also bootable via BIOS (some Upgrade DVDs aren't).

Follow A Clean install of Windows 7 (page 6) and Start on Step 4. Install Windows 7 without a product key.

Follow the steps on Microsoft Product Activation in particular Step 11d.
